Time for Bed

Analyzing ‘The Butterfly Dream’ in chapter 2 of Zhuangzi, Jacques Lacan wrote, ‘…in the dream, he is a butterfly for nobody. It is when he is awake that he is Choang-tsu for others, and is caught in their butterfly net.’ Night sleep seems to be the only time we become “pure self”, yet it is also somehow invaded in contemporary society.

This work includes close-up portraits and still life photographs, narrating some common experience before and after bed time, the moments probably farthest away from being gazed or shaped by society and the external world, the time being ourselves.
